Italian supercar will be produced in the USAOctober 24, 2020
The revived Italian brand De Tomaso announced the move
The Italian company De Tomaso has decided to move the headquarters and assembly site of the P72 supercar to the United States – negotiations are already under way with the authorities.
In a project called Mission American Automotive Renaissance, the revived Italian brand De Tomaso is about to move its headquarters and production facilities across the Atlantic to build the first P72. The company is in talks with the authorities of several states – a decision will be made within six months. The fact that the Italian supercar will be produced in the United States testifies to “the return of the American car industry to glorious days of supremacy,” according to De Tomaso.
“We are dedicated to launching a golden new era of American automotive design and excellence, as well as creating opportunities, developing talent and courageous partnerships,” said brand CEO Ryan Burris. He considers De Tomaso an Italian-Argentinean-American brand, because it was founded in Italy by the Argentinean Alejandro de Tomaso, and most of the models produced used Ford engines – cars were sold in the United States through dealers of this brand. Production of the P72 is due to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.
