Italian studio will revive the Ferrari 250 GTOOctober 1, 2018
Atelier Ares Design from Modena, led by former CEO Lotus Dany Bahar, is ready to revive the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. The modern interpretation of the historical sports car will be released in the amount of ten pieces. The price of the “new” coupe, taking into account the purchase of the donor car will be about one million euros.
During the interview to the publication Robb Report Bahar demonstrated working sketches of the sports car – the finalization of the design of the two-door team of artists deals with the client who ordered the car. “This is a modern interpretation, not a copy,” – emphasizes the head of Ares Design — “Demonstrating our capabilities”.
The original 250 GTO rightfully bears the title of the most expensive classic car: in the summer at auction, the car of 1963 was sold for $ 70 million.
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta or the more recent 812 Superfast can be the donor for the revived 250 GTO. In the latter case, under the hood of the sports car will be a 6.5-liter V12 engine, giving out 800 horsepower and 718 Nm of torque. The box is a seven-step robot with two clutches.
For the car I will make a new body, imitating the details with the original 250 GTO. So, the similarities will add three air intakes under the front edge of the hood, side gills, vents on the rear fenders, the neck of the fuel tank next to the trunk door and stylized taillights.
However, for Ares Design this project will not be a debut. In winter, the studio presented a replica of the seventies De Tomaso Pantera sports car, built on the basis of the Lamborghini Huracan. At the same time, during the presentation, Bahar showed images of another retro-styled supercar, inspired by the Grand Tours 365 GT4, 400 and 412, produced by Ferrari between 1972 and 1989.
