It was revealed on which tires SSC Tuatara accelerated to 532 km / hOctober 24, 2020
And than the record tires pumped up.
Monstrous speed has been reached. Passions seem to have subsided. The SSC Tuatara is officially the fastest production car ever. But the circumstances and details of the record are only now beginning to slowly become clear.
So, initially it was reported that the hypercar developed in the limit of 532.93 km / h on factory tires. But what is this miracle tire that can withstand such a load? Our French colleagues managed to find out: the well-known Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 stood on the record SSC Tuatara.
Curiously, Bugatti also turned to the French tire company for support. And as a result, the Chiron was put on special tires made exclusively for record-breaking races. Rumor has it that the price of the kit was 40,000 euros.
At the same time, SSC Tuatara was deprived of such a privilege. It is alleged that completely serial rubber was mounted on the disks of the American car. Exactly the same will be received by buyers of all 100 hypercars planned for assembly.
And yet the engineers allowed themselves some trick. The tires were inflated not with air, but with pure nitrogen, which keeps the pressure more stable and reduces the risk of tire bursting from overheating.
