As before, the VW Golf is based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform. While the appearance of an electric version is not expected, however, the hybrid will be in the company’s arsenal. It is equipped with a 48-volt electrical system that restores energy when slowed down.
Under the hood of the hybrid version will be two engine options: a 1.0-liter and a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 128 hp. and 148 hp respectively. Together with the motors, a seven-speed automatic transmission is running.
The 1.0-liter 89-horsepower engine did not receive a soft-hybrid system. However, the company said that they were able to reduce the amount of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
Two 2.0-liter diesel engines developing 113 horsepower and 148 hp can be paired with both a manual and an automatic transmission.
The most powerful version is the Volkswagen Golf GTE, under the hood of which is a hybrid system with a 1.48-liter turbocharged engine. The total power of the power plant reaches 242 horsepower. At a speed of 140 km / h, the car can travel by electric traction up to 70 kilometers without additional recharging.
