Introduced the charged crossover Mercedes-AMG GLB 35August 29, 2019
As part of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which will open its doors in early September, the German company will present a “charged” version of its new compact SUV.
The standard Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 turbocharged got an output of 221 hp, which is pretty good, but the German company has its own opinion on this issue. So, the automaker announced the debut of a more powerful version performed by AMG, which received the full name Mercedes-AMG GLB 35.
In the engine compartment of the model, the already familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged engine settled, but thanks to the additional boost from the twin-scroll turbocharger, the unit produces a record 306 hp and torque of 400 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km / h with the GLB 35 takes only 5.2 seconds, and the maximum speed is electronically limited at around 250 km / h.
A couple of the power plant is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a proprietary 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The AMG model lost the Eco and Sport driving modes from the basic version and received several new ones: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. In Slippery mode, in combination with the all-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz 4Matic system and additional body trim, the car turns into a real SUV.
AMG specialists modified the suspension of the GLB 35, so the novelty has improved dynamics and less body roll. With AMG Ride Control, the electronics control the damping on each wheel. At the same time, the AMG sensitive steering wheel and four-piston brakes provide better handling and traction.
Outwardly from the standard version, the AMG modification can be distinguished by the Panamericana brand radiator grille, as well as 19-inch AMG 10 rims and silver calipers. Also available are optional 20- and 21-inch wheels, available in two colors.
An innovative multimedia complex MBUX with a touch screen, touch buttons on the steering wheel and a large monitor on the center console is installed in the “charged” news room. Meanwhile, the seats, dashboard and door cards indicate AMG garage accessibility thanks to leather upholstery and contrast stitching.
“With the new GLB 35 4MATIC, we are expanding our product range by adding a very attractive model to an active target group that emphasizes versatility. It also includes the optional seven-seater saloon of our new compact SUV, which is not typical of AMG, ” – says Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.
The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 is expected to go on sale in early 2020.
