Introduced “other” Toyota CorollaSeptember 17, 2019
Toyota launches the twelfth-generation Corolla sedan and station wagon on the Japanese home market. The novelty has moved to the global TNGA platform, but in size differs from the global model.
The sedan and the station wagon turned out to be significantly smaller than their predecessors, since with the change of generation the Japanese Corolla “moved” to the global TNGA architecture (previously the model was based on the enlarged Yaris platform). The wheelbase of all three options – hatchback, four-door and station wagon – is the same and is 2640 millimeters. In length, the sedan decreased by 135 millimeters relative to the previous-generation Corolla, and the station wagon – by 155 millimeters, and in addition they have already become 35 and 45 millimeters, respectively.
The engine range includes an atmospheric 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 140 horsepower and a 1.2 turbo engine, the output of which is 116 forces. In addition, a hybrid modification is available, which includes 1.8, derated to 98 forces, and a 72-horsepower electric motor. For this version, an optional electric motor (7.2 forces) is provided on the rear axle, and this configuration is offered exclusively in the Japanese market. Prices range from 17.9 thousand dollars for a sedan to 18.6 thousand for a station wagon.
