Fans of road trips, who also like electric cars, probably often ask themselves when will an electric motorhome finally appear? Iridium answered this question in January last year – it was then that the very first electric camper was shown (the show was held at the Travel Fair in Stuttgart, Germany). Named the Iridium E-Mobil RV, the car offered a range of just 200 km.
But now, the guys presented an updated version of their model. According to the assurances of company representatives, the 108 kW battery will provide the motorhome with enough energy to overcome 400 km of track.
In our video, a certain Andrew Ditton met with a team of Iridium engineers at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2020 event. According to them, the new E-Mobil 70EB / Generation 2 became one of the main attractions at the company’s booth. It is based on the Mooveo motorhome, built on the basis of the Fiat Ducato / RAM ProMaster chassis. The turbodiesel engine was replaced with an electric counterpart, and a rechargeable battery was added.
Generation 2 uses an 188-hp electric synchronous motor. (730 Nm). Its batteries are lithium type. It is reported that the cost of Iridium E-Mobil RV is 200 000 euros. Charging takes place using a dedicated connector. The maximum weight of the electric caravan will be 4,800 kg.
