Infiniti will begin production of electric cars in 2021January 17, 2018
The company will begin mass production of cars with electrified power units since 2021. This was reported by the press service of the brand with reference to the president and executive director Hiroto Sikawa. According to the top manager, a number of design solutions for new cars will be borrowed from the concept of Q Inspiration, which was presented at the Auto Show in Detroit.
In addition to full-fledged electric vehicles (EV), customers will also be offered some electrified models (e-POWER). This technology is a scheme with a gasoline engine of a small working volume, which recharges the battery pack. The company explained that this eliminates the need for an external charging source, which significantly expands the range and at the same time provides customers with the typical advantages of a full electric vehicle (EV).
Above the appearance of Q Inspiration worked designer Karim Habib. According to him, the new concept Infiniti “transfers the traditional architecture of the sedan to the next stage of evolution.” The company explained that the prototype became “the first demonstration of a new language of brand design.”
Also in 2021, Infiniti will introduce its first fully electric car. Earlier it was reported that this would be an absolutely new car brand. Prior to this, the company abandoned the idea of costing a car based on an existing Infiniti model. However, the creation of the car will take into account the experience of Nissan in the field of cars with electric power plant. Externally, the novelty, most likely, will resemble the concept Emerg-e Concept, which was first shown in 2012.
