Work on the Q60 Project Black S with the hybrid technology used in Formula 1 has come to an end, but the brand is still thinking about the feasibility of producing this model. In the meantime, they built two prototypes and sent them to road tests on the Austrian Salzburgring highway, which will last several months. During this time, Infiniti will be able to evaluate the “viability” of this project by carefully studying the finished prototypes. After analyzing the information collected, the brand will decide whether to launch a limited series.
Recall that the Infiniti Q60 Project Black concept debuted at the Geneva Motor Show -2017, and a year later the brand showed a driving prototype in Paris. He received a hybrid with an ERS energy recovery system – a similar thing we can see on Formula 1 cars. With its help, kinetic and thermal energy is accumulated, which allows for a short-term increase in engine output.
The basis for the Q60 Project S was the Q60 S coupe. But the hybrid installation consists of a 405-horsepower three-liter V6 engine with two electric turbochargers and three motor generators. Their total return is 571 hp.
With such a “filling” Infiniti Q60 Project Black S is gaining the first “hundred” in less than four seconds. Recall that the standard coupe could boast of 5.1 seconds.
