The car is very similar to the American Jeep Wrangler, but it costs significantly less. For a novelty, dealers ask for 980,000 – 1,375,000 rupees. The Mahindra Thar engine range consists of two power units – a 2.0-liter petrol engine with a capacity of 150 hp. and a 130-horsepower 2.2-liter diesel engine. Depending on the configuration, the engines work in tandem with 6MKPP or 6AKPP.
Moreover, the manual transmission is Mahindra’s own development. Already in the basic version, the car receives four-wheel drive, we also note the presence of a low gear and a rear differential lock.
The car will be offered in two trim levels. The base AX gets a fabric upper, air conditioning, ABS and steel wheels.
The expensive LX version will have a hard top, alloy wheels and a modern multimedia system with a touchscreen. It should be noted that the Mahindra Thar has excellent cross-country ability – the car’s ground clearance reaches 226 mm, and the SUV is also able to overcome a ford with a depth of 650 mm. Mahindra wants to bring the car to foreign markets in 2021-2022.
