British company Ineos Automotive is close to completing its purchase of Daimler’s Ambach, France.

Most likely, the plant in eastern France will come under the control of the British firm in the coming weeks, given that the union has already approved the acquisition. Recall that this car enterprise is currently producing Smart EQ Fortwo electric cars. But from 2022, Daimler will start producing these electric vehicles in China together with Geely.

Ineos Automotive is going to start mass production of its upcoming Grenadier SUV at a new plant from 2022. According to the plan of the British company, about 25,000 cars will be rolled off the assembly line of the French company per year.

Ineos Automotive noted that the final agreement on the purchase of the car plant should enter into force in the coming weeks. In turn, the French government asked Daimler not to stop production in Ambach until the British company began assembling the Grenadier to keep employees busy.

In addition, it was recently noted that Polestar will put three new cars on the conveyor of a plant in China. It should be emphasized that all three cars, the production of which will be set up at the Chinese enterprise, are based on the Volvo SPA2 architecture.
