Recently, Indian Motorcycle introduced the most powerful PowerPlus engine. It is also the most powerful V-twin engine among American ones. The company is very proud of its development.
On October 22, the American company Indian Motorcycle unveiled its currently most powerful PowerPlus engine. The 1769-cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine delivers 121 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque.
This engine is installed in the Indian Challenger – a new model of a motorcycle with a fixed fairing. Indian Motorcycle have used all the latest technology to develop two-wheeled vehicles. Now this bike is not only the best in their company, but also among motorcycles with a V-twin engine. The name of the bike was given in honor of Indian PowerPlus, which was produced between 1916 and 1924.
“Our engineers had a real challenge – something less than the best design and functionality in its category simply will not go into production. And the new engine proves that they have done the job, ”says Steve Menneto, president of Indian Motorcycle. “We devoted a lot of time to designing, developing and testing to make sure that it is the best liquid-cooled V-twin engine. And I’m incredibly proud of our team and this incredible motor. ”
PowerPlus has an overhead camshaft, equipped with four valves per cylinder and hydraulic lifters. A six-speed gearbox is paired with the engine. There are also three driving modes.
“We developed the most original V-twin, and then month after month, hour after hour, we subjected it to the most difficult tests to make sure that it copes with all the requirements. The result is an exceptional product. ”- John Callaghan, vice president of design, said proudly.
