In the UAE, they found a driver who for 50 years has never violated traffic regulations. They were 78-year-old Said Rashid Ahmed Balkhun, who received a driver’s license in 1969. The emirate police of Ras Al Khaimah marked this achievement with a special gift.
Mohammed Saeed Al Humaid, director general of the Central Operations Directorate of the Police of the RAA, believes that the example of Balkhun can help get drivers to “follow the same rules.” Balkhun’s son Rashid Said added that his father’s achievement must be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
In the UAE, there is a system of incentives for accurate driving – the so-called “white points”. For each month of driving without fines, the driver gets two points. With these points, drivers can “pay off” for minor traffic violations, and if they score 24 points in a year, they can claim gifts from the police department.
In the spring of this year, the Dubai police gave the two most accurate drivers toy cars made of pure gold.
However, there are reverse opposite examples of attitudes to the rules of the road. Thus, the 18-year-old resident of Germany lost his driver’s license 49 minutes after receiving it. Returning home after passing the exam, he was twice the speed limit.
