The novelty of the once British brand went on sale in the Middle East. The model is not MG’s own development – it is a clone of the Roewe RX8. Both brands are owned by the Chinese concern SAIC.

There are five original models in the current MG lineup – ZS, HS and GS crossovers, the MG 3 hatch and the MG 6 large liftback. However, the brand’s gamut is much wider, but the rest of the cars are already clones of the brands that, in fact, are MG , belong to the Chinese concern SAIC. Moreover, the British company “borrowed” most from Roewe most of the time: in some markets they have been selling the MG RX5 SUV, which completely copies the Roewe RX5, plus the new MG 5 sedan, the twin Roewe i5, has already been introduced. And now MG has reached the flagship of the “celestial” brand – the seven-seater SUV Roewe RX8 has reincarnated as the MG RX8, the latter being only available in the Middle East.

The original model debuted in China in 2018, it was also not developed from scratch: the ix-eighth is based on the Maxus D90 (Maxus also owns the SAIC brand), and that, in turn, is made from a pickup truck Maxus T60. But the flagship Roewe has its own body, while at MG they limited themselves to only replacing emblems.

So, the MG RX8 is a 4,923 mm SUV with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The car has a ladder frame and a continuous rear axle. But there are no air balloons – the spring suspension. But the ground clearance is 202 mm. Seven seats are already in the “base”, and MG is simply proud that the RX8 was the first three-row model in the history of the brand. The new items also include: LED optics, 20-inch wheels, leather interior, front seats with ventilation, wireless charging for a smartphone, separate climate control for rear riders, panoramic roof, all-round cameras, lane keeping system, cruise -the control.[IP]&ua=[UA]&domain=[DOMAIN]&page=[PAGE]&secure=[SECURE]&language=[BROWSER_LANGUAGE]&bidfloor=[BIDFLOOR]&gdpr_consent=[GDPR_CONSENT]

The engine switched from Roewe RX8 – this is a gasoline “turbo four” 2.0 (factory index 20L4E). True, the power for the Middle East was slightly cut – 220 instead of 224 hp at the base model. The maximum torque has not changed – 360 Nm. The motor is paired with a classic six-speed automatic. The basic version has rear-wheel drive, the other options are all-wheel drive (with multi-plate clutch), there are six driving modes.

Price MG RX8 lies in the range from 21 850 to 25 700 dollars

Recall that earlier in the MG lineup another frame model appeared – the Extender pickup, which is a clone of the Maxus T70. The latter is an improved version of the Maxus T60, that is, Extender is a relative of the MG RX8. The MG truck is currently only available in Thailand.
