In the lineup Suzuki will be a budget crossover

Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki, an Indian subsidiary of Suzuki, introduced the conceptual cross-section of Future-S. According to Autocar India, the serial “SUV” with a design based on this prototype will debut next year. According to the publication, the novelty will cost anywhere from 500,000 rupees. Thus, the future product of the Future-S will be cheaper than the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza crossover. The latest model today will cost at least 758,000 rupees.

One of the main competitors of the new Maruti Suzuki in India will be the “upbeat” hatch Renault Kwid. The model of the French brand is cheaper – from 266,700 rupees. However, unlike Quid, which only pretends to be a crossover (an unpainted body kit, a ground clearance of 180 mm), the externally serial Future-S is supposed to be more suited to SUV segment cars. In addition, the equipment of the model Maruti Suzuki, probably, will be richer. For example, for Kwid is still not available ABS, and the airbag for this “five-door” is only one, and that is offered for a surcharge.

The Maruti Suzuki crossover is expected to be built on the Heartect platform, which also underlies the latest Suzuki Swift and Ertiga. Like the Vitara Brezza, the length of the product model will not exceed four meters – such machines in India are tax privileges.

The engine of the new product is being tweaked by one – the petrol “four” of 1.2, its return is not disclosed. Note, the engine with the same volume is in the lineup of the Indian sedan Maruti Suzuki Dzire (four-door version of Swift), this model has an engine power of 83 hp, it works in tandem with a five-speed manual or robotized transmission. The drive of the serial Future-S is likely to be only the front one (like that of the Vitara Brezza).

Production of new products will be established in India, it is still unknown if the model will be chosen outside this country. The Vitara Brezza crossover is also sold only in the Indian market, there it is the most popular SUV: in 2017, the cross sold 140 945 copies (Hyundai Creta, 105 484 units in second place). Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki soon plans to start supplying Vitara Brezza to Indonesia. It is possible that exports will then expand. The same fate can expect and serial Future-S.
