In Switzerland, stopped sales of diesel Mercedes and PorscheAugust 17, 2018
The Swiss authorities suspended the registration of new Mercedes-Benz and Porsche cars with diesel engines, as engines do not meet environmental requirements. This is reported by Automotive News.
Under the ban were minivans Mercedes-Benz Vito with 1.6-liter engines, as well as crossovers Porsche Macan and Cayenne, equipped with engines of 3.0 and 4.2 liters, respectively. The ban on registration concerns cars that will be imported into the country after August 17. Machines entered in the database before this date, can be operated, but their power units will have to undergo modification.
This is not the first time that Porsche cars fall under the ban on registration activities. In June, it became known that the German brand was forced to stop the European sales of its cars because of the inconsistency with the new environmental standards that entered into force of the EU.
In 2017 the German authorities have forbidden to register in the country new crossovers Porsche Cayenne, which are equipped with three-liter turbodiesels V6. The reason was the use of “fraudulent” algorithm in power units, which understated the real amount of harmful emissions. In addition, the German Ministry of Transport obliged Porsche to recall about 22,000 Cayenne cars with such engines, which required the download of new software.
