In Red Bull and Toro Rosso will receive a new version of Honda enginesApril 24, 2019
Honda confirmed the early change of power plants on the Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso cars at the stage in Baku – the second version of the internal combustion engine makes its debut this weekend, other nodes are also optimized.
Based on the three engines for 21 race, the first scheduled replacement is usually carried out before the Grand Prix of Canada, but the new version of the Honda powerplant is more powerful and reliable, so the teams decided to replace it early, agreeing in advance on the inevitable fines during the season.
Toyoharu Tanabe, Technical Director, Honda F1: “The fourth stage of the season will take place on the fastest street route in the calendar. The key features of the route in Baku are a very long straight, more than two kilometers, and many 90-degree turns. To achieve effective work of all systems of the power plant on the line, we use the experience of last year.
This weekend we will put the second version of the internal combustion engine on all four cars. One of the reasons – the investigation of the failure of the power plant on the machine Daniil Kvyat in China indicates problems with quality control. The second version of the internal combustion engine has a great resource, better reliability and a small increase in power. ”
