In MotoGP racers will be able to finish separately from motorcycles.December 9, 2018
New rules will take effect next year in all three classes of the championship in motorcycle racing.
Until the last season, the rider needed to maintain contact with the motorcycle in order to qualify at the finish. In the event that he fell directly in front of the finish line, crossing it separately from the bike – he would lose his earned position.
By decision of the MotoGP commission, such cases will be able to get into the final qualification from 2019. The result will be taken into account depending on who finishes first – the bike or the rider.
Often, when an athlete falls from a motorcycle, a faster technique reaches the finish line. On the other hand, it happens that the bike flies to the side of the road, and the rider has to lift it and drive it to the checkered flag itself. Now he can not do this, but simply reach without a bike.
The Commission also clarified the situation with the races, which stopped with red flags. Starting next season, those participants who actively showed themselves to a stop will be allowed to restart.
