In McLaren told about the racing version of the coupe 720S GT3August 25, 2018
The road version of the 720S was first shown in 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show. Now the British company is starting to test its racing version of the GT3 before the debut competition next year.
The manufacturer confirmed that the new model, announced in November last year, will go to real routes in Europe, North America and the Middle East at the end of this year. This is where the testing of the computational fluid dynamics techniques that were used in the development of the car will be conducted.
Sport version, like the road, has in the engine compartment a 4-liter turbo engine V8. His “racing” power is still kept secret. However, it is known that the unit will operate with a 6-band sequential gearbox. McLaren notes that about 90% of the components have been changed or optimized for the GT3 variant.
The car was reworked the suspension and strengthened the brakes. Also there is a developed aerodynamic body kit and safety cage. The coupe was equipped with rear-view cameras and a blind zone monitoring system.
“The development of a racing car is the optimization of each component, and the light monoblock chassis of the MonoCage II is the ideal basis for this,” says the head of the company Dan Walsmely. “Giving our customers the opportunity to participate in races is an integral part of McLaren Automotive’s business strategy, and we are committed to delivering exceptional GT cars.”
McLaren also confirmed the starting price for the 720S GT3 – 444,000 pounds sterling (about 570,000 dollars). Despite the fact that the model is made to order, for customers it will be available next year.
Earlier, McLaren showed and talked about a unique version of the supercar 600LT. The car was fully clothed in carbon fiber and requested for it 363 500 dollars.
