In Greece, they wanted to transfer everyone to electric carsJune 29, 2020
The Greek government is urging its citizens to switch to electric models, while promising good bonuses and almost zero taxes.
According to available information, at the first stage, the state is going to subsidize 100 million euros for 1.5 years for the purchase of new type of machines. With the help of subsidies, about 25% of the price of 14,000 electric vehicles will be covered. Together with the environmental bonus, the benefit can go up to 10,000 euros.
The benefits will apply not only to the passenger segment, but also to buses, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters and bicycles. By 2030, every 3rd vehicle in Greece will be equipped with an electric motor.
The advantage of operating electric cars can be a mild local climate, which will make it possible to drive safely on vehicles. It is worth recalling that the biggest problem for electric cars is the subzero temperature, under such conditions the battery runs out relatively quickly.
In 2019, 478 electric cars were sold in Greece, this amount was 0.42% of the total number of cars sold. In 2020, sales growth was noted, in the first 4 months, 214 consumers (0.9%) purchased electric vehicles.
