In Germany, the driver was sentenced to two years in prison for dangerous overtakingJanuary 8, 2020
In Germany, a court sent a truck driver to jail, who, while making dangerous overtaking, almost collided with a passenger bus. Severe punishment, according to the German court, should deter the remaining drivers from rash maneuvers.
Despite the fact that the incident occurred on January 22, 2019, the court decision was read out only at the end of the year, according to Delfi Auto. The investigation began after a driver posted on the Internet a video shot on a DVR – in Bavaria, a truck driver makes dangerous overtaking in a section where it is forbidden to do so and the road is poorly visible. At this moment, a passenger bus rides in the oncoming lane, followed by passenger cars. As a result, in two lanes, three vehicles were immediately nearby, which miraculously parted. According to experts, the distance between them was no more than 30-40 centimeters.
A few days after the publication of the video on the social network Facebook, German law enforcement authorities declared the truck driver wanted. The Czech turned out to be an intruder. He was immediately fired and arrested.
In December 2019, a trial was held. The prosecution found the driver’s actions to be an attempted murder and insisted on three years in prison. The defense requested a suspended sentence. As a result, the court sentenced the offender to two years and three months in prison, and also forbade driving for four years.
