In Europe, pre-orders have opened for the Volkswagen gas wagon
March 16, 2019The novelty, working on gas engine fuel, has received the prefix “Variant TGI” in the name and has added the list of “gas” models, which the German brand offers today to its European customers.
European dealers of Volkswagen have begun to place orders for methane Golf in the station wagon. A model called the Golf Variant TGI will be on a par with other “gas” cars of the brand – the Polo TGI hatchback and the Golf TGI. Under the hood, there is a new 150-liter, 130-horsepower turbo engine operating on the Miller cycle. The manufacturer’s gas tank “trimmed” to nine liters – a kind of strategic reserve needed to get to the nearest gas station.
By the way, a new German station wagon can travel about 200 kilometers on gasoline. But with full gas filling range reaches 440 kilometers.
Golf Variant TGI equipped with three gas cylinders, whose total volume is 115 liters (17.3 kg of natural gas). Due to their good location (the developers hid the cylinders under the floor), the boot volume was not damaged here – 605 liters, as in the versions on gasoline. Interestingly, by the year 2025, according to experts of Volkswagen, the number of “gas” cars in Germany will increase to one million. Currently, the numbers are much more modest – about 100 thousand cars.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Volkswagen company improved gas versions of Polo TGI and Golf TGI, having added them the course.
