The company Skoda introduced the most affordable in its lineup crossover called Kamiq, which stood on the step below the model Karoq. The public premiere of the novelty was held within the framework of the Beijing Motor Show.

The crossover was based on the old architecture PQ25, which, in particular, produced the model Fabia previous generation, as well as elevator Rapib. With Rapid, Kamiq will be produced on the same line in Jicin.

The crossover will be offered with a single petrol engine working volume of 1.5 liters, developing 110 hp. and 150 Nm of torque. The car will only be available with a front-wheel drive.

In China, which is the largest market for Skoda (in 2017, sold 325 thousand cars), the Kamiq crossover will compete with Hyundai ix25, Citroen C3-XR and Nissan Kicks.

In Europe, the Czech brand will sell another compact model – the serial version of the concept car Vision X, presented in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The commercial version will be built on the modular platform MQB, like the Volkswagen T-Roc.

The prototype of the Skoda Vision X was equipped with a hybrid power plant, based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine running on natural gas. The unit produces 130 hp. and 250 Nm of torque. The engine works in tandem with a starter generator with a belt drive located on the front axle, as well as a 27-horsepower electric motor at the rear. These units are powered by a 48-volt on-board power supply with a lithium-ion battery of 1.5 kWh and a kinetic energy recovery system during braking.
