In this European country, it was decided to promote electric vehicles in this way: roads have been identified, on which ordinary cars will be able to drive at a speed not exceeding 100 km/h since 2019, and the speed limit for electric cars will be 130 km/h.

So the government of Austria wants to increase the attractiveness of electric transport, believing that in this way it protects the environment from harmful emissions. We are talking about certain sections of highways, where the permitted speed limit is 130 km / h, but for environmental reasons it can be permanently or temporarily reduced to 100 km / h. And since electric cars do not produce harmful emissions, they will continue to drive on the same roads at a speed of 130 km / h.

This measure will mainly affect road sections that pass through particularly polluted areas. This provision should enter into force in 2019. A special permit for electric vehicles will be distributed to 440 kilometers of Austrian roads, which is about 20% of the entire network of highways of the country. It is worth noting the fact that about 80% of the electricity generated in the country accounts for hydropower and other renewable sources.
