In 2021, there will be six displays on the machinesSeptember 5, 2019
Among the various innovations that may appear in Formula 1 in 2021, there are those that do not affect the speed, but are intended exclusively for fans. In particular, it is proposed to install six information displays on each car, which will help spectators in the stands better understand what is happening on the track.
According to RaceFans, the preliminary version of the new technical regulation speaks of six displays, two of which are proposed to be placed on the body on both sides of the machine, and four more – on wheels, and they will be of special design.
In 2021, Formula 1 will switch to 18-inch tires, respectively, the wheels will also change, and we are talking about the fact that on special rotating displays mounted on them, information intended for spectators in the stands, for example, about the position held by the rider, is displayed At the moment.
A few years ago, in 2014, during tests in Abu Dhabi, the Force India team tested the display, called the Info Wing, and it was mounted on the mount of the on-board camera located on the upper air intake. According to the idea, information on the position on which the rider was going should be displayed on him, but things did not go beyond the tests.
If we talk about displays mounted on wheels, then a similar solution was tested in the American IndyCar series, but it was also not implemented.
