Smart will show updated versions of its all-electric city cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a week and a half.

Smart is preparing an update for its Fortwo and Forfour, and has unveiled a new model design ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Although the drawing depicts wider arches, larger wheels and a rounder cabin than the serial models are likely to receive, we can see how Smart intends to modernize the appearance of its city cars, turning into a manufacturer of only electric vehicles.

Among the most significant changes are the redesigned hood and new front and rear bumpers. The front grille looks enlarged, but has the same vent shape in the form of honeycombs, as with previous electric models.

Along with this, it is worth waiting for a new appearance of cars, which will differ due to the redesigned optics and design of the bumpers. In addition, the infotainment system as well as the interior as a whole will be updated – the central console of the Forfour prototype is closed, so functions such as wireless charging of the smartphone may appear.

The upgraded Fortwo and Forfour will be the latest Smarts created under the leadership of Daimler before Geely, which owns 50% of the brand, will take on the next-generation development. Mercedes-Benz will continue to develop visual elements of cars, and in 2022 the appearance of new models is expected.
