While the Ioniq 5 prepares to debut in the coming weeks, the scheduled 2022 Ioniq 6 will be the next member of the Hyundai IONIQ family. The designers at Motor.es have created a rendering that represents a more realistic image of a production car.
The first model of the IONIQ brand is the Ioniq 5 mid-size crossover, which is expected to be released earlier this year. The Ionic 5 is the production version of the electric 45 concept from Hyundai Motor Company. The electric car designers have drawn inspiration from the past and integrated it with “cutting edge parametric pixels” – a unique design element that will continue in future IONIQ models.
Based on the latest Propechy electric concept vehicle launched in March, Hyundai plans to unveil the Ioniq 6 in 2022, followed by the Ioniq 7 large SUV in early 2024. The iconic exterior design of the Percent features perfect proportions and an aerodynamic silhouette. Like all IONIQ vehicles with a design called “value without time”, this vehicle will draw inspiration from past models, but will be a bridge to the future.
The IONIQ 6 will also be based on Electric Global’s global modular platform known as E-GMP, which offers fast charging and long range. If the Ioniq 5 can already cover 550 km, the Ioniq 6 is expected to be able to cover 650 or even 700 km thanks to the long wheelbase that can accommodate more cells.
The dedicated EV platform will allow Hyundai to reimagine the vehicle’s interior by providing a “smart living space” with unique features such as adjustable seats, wireless connectivity and storage space. The platform paradigm shift will be extended to a user interface that is simpler, more intuitive and ergonomic to make passengers feel comfortable.
