The stunning Acura NSX crossover will make the Ford Mustang Mach-E jittery.
Given the worldwide obsession with crossovers, there is a real possibility that Acura will introduce a new NSX-style SUV. While this is just a rumor at this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a reality. Some designers have even turned their imaginations on digital paper, and KDesign is no exception. This artist’s latest render makes you believe an NSX-infused SUV would be really cool.
KDesign appears to have used the Honda HR-V as its design base, adding NSX headlights and hood to the image. The sculpted roof adds sportiness to the front aesthetics, and the overall effect is pretty pleasing. The windows and rear door handles, hidden in the recesses on the C-pillars, are from a subcompact crossover, and like the rear of the hypothetically new model retains the subtle HR-V roof spoiler. The full-width taillights are the most obvious change in the rear, making the crossover more subdued.
The influence of the NSX is seen mainly at the bottom of the car, and the look is completed by a carbon fiber diffuser with four tailpipes. Obviously if it does hit the market – perhaps as a direct competitor to the Ford Mustang Mach-E – it won’t have the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 from the original NSX and three electric motors as the powertrain, though 573bhp … and 650 Nm of torque would be very helpful. To make it affordable, Honda will likely make it a bit more powerful than other hybrid crossovers in the class on offer.
