Hyundai’s new pickup truck revealed in spy photosDecember 4, 2019
Production of the Santa Cruz model starts in 2021
Korean portal Clien has published the first shot of a camouflaged Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck. Abundant camouflage indicates that the car went for tests in a serial body.
More than four years have passed since the debut of the concept of the same name, and only recently at Hyundai shared the first details about the “commodity” pickup. So far, only one assembly site has been declared for the model – a plant in Alabama. More than $ 400 million will be invested in the modernization of the American enterprise, and the staff will be expanded. According to plans, Santa Cruz will get on the conveyor in 2021.
According to preliminary data, the pickup truck is based on the next-generation Hyundai Tucson platform. The motor range is likely to include a 2.5-liter engine that works in tandem with an eight-band automatic transmission. The main competitors of the news in the North American market will be Ford Ranger and Honda Ridgeline.
In the fall of this year, it turned out that Hyundai had prepared a “charged” N-version for a pickup that had not yet been released. It is expected that Santa Cruz N can get a sporty tuned suspension, body kit and a more powerful engine. For example, it may be a 275-horsepower two-liter turbo engine that is installed on the Hyundai i30 N.
