Hyundai will operate on a 250-hp i20 N and a 340-hp Tucson NFebruary 2, 2019
Rumors about the appearance of “hot” versions of the i20 hatchback and the Tucson crossover have been around for a long time, they appeared before the launch of the high-performance i30 N. According to representatives of the automaker, work on these cars is currently underway.
In about two years, the more powerful version of the Hyundai Tucson crossover, which will receive the N index, is expected to fight the Spanish counterpart SEAT Cupra Ateca and Volkswagen T-Roc R. According to insiders, the sports version of the South Korean brand compact crossover will have a power of no less than 340 hp and acceleration to the first “hundred” in less than 6 seconds, about the same as its direct competitors.
Hyundai CEO Albert Birmann suggested that a possible version of the Tucson N will also have a sporty, lower suspension compared to the regular version of the model. Thanks to this, the car’s handling will improve.
In addition, he should also get a more aggressive body kit and sports trim.
The sports division of the South Korean automaker seems to be interested in releasing a competitor for the German “charged” Volkswagen Polo GTI, the French Renault Clio RS and the American Ford Fiesta ST. According to rumors, the i20 N debuts early next year with an electronic differential, front-wheel drive and a power of about 250 hp
