Hyundai will introduce smart keys in New YorkApril 10, 2019
Demonstration of new systems will be held in the framework of the New York Automobile Salon during the demonstration of the Hyundai Sonata 2020 model year. Digital Key allows you to integrate into your smartphone an electronic key to the car.
Hyundai is preparing to showcase its Digital Key technology at the New York Auto Show, and then launch it in a series on the next-generation Sonata model. The new technology works as a special application for modern telephone and Near Field Communication (NFC). An NFC antenna is located in the driver’s door handle, and a second antenna for starting the engine is located on the wireless charging pad in the center console.
After authorization, the key allows your smartphone to remotely control various vehicle systems using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication. You can lock and unlock the car, activate the alarm and start the engine if you are at a distance of no more than 9 – 10 meters.
According to the company, an electronic key can be issued for up to four users. All information transfer is carefully encrypted, which provides additional protection against theft. In addition, the car remembers the settings of the driver’s seat, side view mirrors, climate system and multimedia for each individual user.
Of course, the owner of the car can configure various access rights, up to the limitation of access time.
