Hyundai will have a division to develop walking machinesOctober 1, 2020
The new structure in the Hyundai family will be named New Horizons Studio. Specialists in this division will develop futuristic vehicles that will revolutionize mobility. Such cars will be able not only to drive, but also to walk.
The new type of transport that the Koreans are going to develop will be called Ultimate Mobility Vehicles (UMV).
These machines will appeal to customers traveling in areas with extremely difficult road conditions. Conventional transport in such conditions could not cope with the tasks (for example, rescuing people during natural disasters).
Hyundai Elevate will be the first project of the new Hyundai division. This electrically powered walking car debuted at CES last year. Instead of standard wheels, the unique car surprised the audience with four mechanized legs.
Hyundai Vice President John Soo was entrusted with the management of the new division.
When exactly the announced Hyundai transformer cars will become a reality, unfortunately, it is not reported. Apparently, the serial Elevate will be the first serious project for the new division.
Earlier, AutoTimesNews said that flying taxis may appear in Japan as early as 2023. The local startup SkyDrive will be engaged in the production of such cars. He has an interesting project – a 2-seater eVTOL SD-XX aircraft, which looks more like a drone. It is capable of a top speed of 100 km / h.
