Hyundai wants to start free sale of electric motorsAugust 30, 2020
Hyundai Mobis, which is part of the Hyundai Motor Group family, is going to sell auto components for electric cars to various brands. In the meantime, the company supplies its products only to South Korean car manufacturers – Hyundai and KIA.
The fact that the Korean automaker Hyundai is thinking about the possibility of free sale of electric motors, writes the international news agency Reuters.
According to media reports, the Koreans are currently discussing future deliveries of powertrains for electric vehicles with two major automakers at once. If the parties agree, then the first deliveries can begin this year.
Hyundai Mobis executives attribute the decision to expand its “customer base” to a desire to increase production of electric motors. This would help reduce the cost of their release. Such a move would make it possible to reduce the cost of electric cars themselves.
Recall that according to the results of 2019, Hyundai became the bronze medalist in the list of the largest manufacturers of electric cars. This list is headed by American Tesla, and the “silver” went to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
Meanwhile, Hyundai showed an interesting teaser of the subcompact car. According to insider information, the brand is preparing a novelty for its European customers. Such a minicar does not have a traditional motor and is driven by gravity.
