Hyundai spoke about its plans for the release of new carsMarch 13, 2020
This year, Hyundai Motor will introduce a large number of new cars and SUVs on the third-generation platform. Starting with the new Sonata, which was introduced last year, the new generation Avante, the updated Santa Fe and the new Tucson (NX4), which are scheduled for release in April.
Genesis recently introduced its first GV80 crossover. A little later, the completely new GV70 and the next generation G90 will appear, but this will not happen until 2021. Also, the automaker announced the debut next year of a new crossover and CUV. All these new cars will not only reduce the cost, but will also improve driving performance, technology and safety.
Hyundai Motor has reduced the number of platforms from 10 in 2005 to 6. There are several types of 3rd generation platforms: light, medium, large, rear wheel drive, large rear wheel drive and compact. The 3rd generation platform is the next generation platform that can work not only with internal combustion engines, but also with future vehicles such as electric cars that can use high-capacity batteries.
The body weight of the car is reduced by 55 kg due to the lightweight design with high stiffness, and the average stiffness is increased by 10% to improve handling, ensure fuel economy and collision safety. The new platform can achieve the effect of reducing development costs by sharing components.
