The design of the new Hyundai Santa Fe company Hyundai revealed in early February, at the same time the prices of the version intended for the home market were announced. On Wednesday, February 21, the brand held a public presentation of the novelty in Korea and revealed all the characteristics of the model.
In comparison with the predecessor, the length of the new Santa grew by 70 mm and reached 4,770 mm. The width of the fourth generation model is equal to 1,890 mm (+10 mm), the height of the previous one is 1,680 mm, and the wheelbase is enlarged to 2,765 mm (+65 mm). The coefficient of aerodynamic resistance is 0.337 (in the previous Santa – 0.34). The share of high-strength steels in the body structure has grown 2.5 times, torsional rigidity is now 15.4% higher.
Like the third-generation model, in Korea, a new crossover will be available in five- and seven-seat versions. The minimum volume of the trunk of the two-row “SUV” increased from 585 to 625 liters, the seven-seater version – from 125 to 130 liters. The interior has significantly improved noise insulation, and the decoration now uses higher quality materials.
Motors of the new Santa Fe got from the model of the previous generation. But at the same time gasoline 4-cylinder turbo 2.0 was defeated from 240 to 235 hp. Diesels have not touched are engines 2.0 (186 hp) and 2.2 (202 hp). All engines are combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drive – front or full. By the way, all-wheel drive transmission is called HTRAC, but it has nothing to do with the Genesis model of Hyundai premium brand Genesis. The crossover has a permanent front-wheel drive, and the rear-wheel clutch is now fully electric (previously – electro-hydraulic). Also Santa has an electric power steering, located on the rack mechanism. In addition, for all-wheel drive cross-country there are four driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and Smart.
The list of equipment Santa Fe can include: systems to prevent a front collision and warning of leaving the occupied band, the system Safety Exit Assist (temporarily blocks the door, preventing accidents with approaching from behind the cars), a warning system for lateral traffic from the rear and recognition of the presence of rear passengers (warns about them the driver, when he gets out of the car).
Back in the arsenal of new items are: LED optics, round-trip cameras, adaptive cruise control, multimedia system with touch screen and voice control (developed in cooperation with Kakao), projection display, wireless charging. Some functions of the machine can be controlled from the smartphone: for example, to start the engine, check the fuel level or unlock the doors.
In Korea, orders for the new Hyundai Santa Fe are accepted from February 7, 2018. The price of the petrol cross-country starts from the mark of 28,150,000 won. All-terrain vehicle with diesel 2.0 costs from 28,950,000 won, with a diesel engine 2.2 – from 34,100,000 won. As stated in the company Hyundai, in the homeland of the brand has already reserved more than 14 200 crossovers of the new generation.
The European version of Santa Fe-2019 will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show, which will open in March.
