Hyundai Palisade and Le Fil Rouge Concept Receive iF Design Awards-2019February 10, 2019
Hyundai’s flagship SUV lineup, the eight-seat Palisade SUV and the elegant innovative concept Le Fil Rouge, won high awards from the International Design Competition iF Design Awards-2019. Hyundai Motor models have been winning this competition for the fifth year in a row, confirming that the brand’s car’s style matches the high design canons.
Both cars received the highest awards in the field of industrial design in the category “Cars / Vehicles”. The winners were chosen by the jury of the iF Design Awards, which included 67 design experts from around the world. The official award ceremony will be held March 15, 2019 in Munich (Germany).
The high award, which marked the flagship SUV Hyundai, confirms the words of the vice-president and chairman of the Hyundai Motor Design Center Sang-Joop Lee, who noted that “the exterior and interior design of the Palisade clearly reflects its unique flagship identity.”
The main accents in the exterior style of the model emphasize its solidity and presentability, which is typical of the premium flagship SUV. Wide, impressive cascade grille, two-level LED headlights connected by vertical stripes of LED daytime running lights, embossed hood, athletic wheel arches, powerful profile with expressive rear pillars, stylish rear optics, the presence of a panoramic roof divided into two sections make up a complete image of a premium SUV from Hyundai.
The new flagship Hyundai is equipped with a diesel 2.2 liter CRDi turbo engine with 200 hp. or petrol 3.8 liter engine producing 295 hp Both power units interact with the 8-speed automatic transmission Shift-by-wire with push-button control, a feature of which is an automatic transition to the parking mode after opening one of the doors or turning off the engine.
Creating a new design for Sensuous Sportiness, Hyundai Motor has taken an important step in the search for the perfect harmony of emotions and functionality. The first model, created in accordance with the new stylistic canons of the brand, was the concept of Le Fil Rouge, which embodies the brand’s newest approach to design: the theme “Sensual sportiness” will be the main focus in the style of future Hyundai cars, from sedans to SUVs. The new theme aims to create emotional value and bring instinctive beauty to the Hyundai car. This innovative approach appealed to the jury of the iF Design Awards, who awarded the concept to Le Fil Rouge.
The iF Design Awards is one of the most important international design awards. The iF Design Awards logo is a peculiar quality mark assigned to a product that meets the highest requirements set by experts to the style of cars. Prior to this, Hyundai Motor has won high awards four times: in 2015, the Hyundai i20 received the award, in 2016 the Hyundai Tucson, in 2017 the Hyundai i30, and in 2018 the models Kona and i30 Fastback celebrated the victory. This success confirms the company’s commitment to creating cars with unique designs that meet the needs of modern customers.
