At the motor show in Chengdu, which opened on Friday, August 31, the Chinese division of Hyundai introduced the updated Tucson crossover. The model has already undergone restyling in South Korea, Europe and the US, but the Chinese version received a completely different, brutal appearance in a new corporate style.

The front optics is made “two-story”. The angular front is decorated with the new Santa Fe crossover and the HDC-2 Grandmaster concept car. Although there are also unique features: the near and the high beam is placed on top, and both sections of the optics are visually combined with curved navigation lights.

In the tail lights appeared branded “ticks”, like the new “Solaris” and “Elantra”, and the lanterns are visually united by a horizontal LED strip. The total length of the machine has grown by 65 millimeters – up to 4545 millimeters.

In detail, there are notable differences: it is a modern multimedia system with a widescreen monitor and a “virtual flap” in place of conventional point devices. In addition, the climate control remote control and the organization of storage areas in the central tunnel are different – a niche is closed before the gear selector.

Under the hood – exclusively turbocharger 1.6 T-GDI with a power of 177 horsepower paired with a seven-stage “robot”. The basic two-liter “atmospheric” was sent into retirement. Drive – both front and full.

The production of the Tucson model for the Chinese market is carried out by a joint venture with the concern BAIC Motor – Beijing Hyundai. Sales of the updated crossover will begin in September.
