Hyundai Lafesta series sedan: two variants of decor and two turbo engines

Pictures of the new four-door sedan Hyundai Lafesta are published without any camouflage. The model will enter the market this year.

The harbinger of the new Hyundai Lafesta sedan – the eponymous concept – was shown in April 2018 during the Beijing Motor Show. And today in the base of the Ministry of Industry of China there were pictures of the serial model. The novelty is intended for the Chinese market, its production will be adjusted at the plant of the joint venture Beijing Hyundai in Chongqing, the start of sales is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. Note, in the lineup of Nissan there is a minivan Lafesta, it is produced since 2004, but in China this model is not represented.

Judging by the photo, the commodity four-door sedan as a whole retained the prototype design, which, in turn, was built on the motives of another Hyundai show car – Le Fil Rouge. At the same time, Lafesta will be available in two versions: one has a radiator grill with horizontal dies, an exhaust pipe of such a car is hidden; the second version has a lattice with a cellular pattern, and two nozzles are on display (though, for sure, one of them is fake).

According to preliminary data, Lafesta sedan is based on Hyundai Elantra. The length of the new four-door sedan is 4,660 mm, width – 1,790 mm, height – 1,425 mm, wheelbase size is 2,700 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the Chinese version of Elantra: 4 610/1 800/1 450 mm, the distance between the axes is the same 2,700 mm. It is assumed that the Lafesta rear suspension – multi-link, while the Elantra – semi-independent.

To the Chinese, the new Hyundai will be offered with petrol “turbo-quartz” 1.4 T-GDI and 1.6 T-GDI, which are well known by other models of the brand. At Lafesta the first engine gives out 140 hp, for the second it is provided two variants of capacity – 190 and 204 hp. Both motors are combined with a seven-step preselective robotic transmission.

Most likely, Lafesta will be more expensive than Elantra. The latest model in China today costs from 99,800 yuan. While there is no information on the plans of Hyundai to sell a new four-door sedan outside China.

Earlier in the web there were photos of the interior of the serial Lafesta. Sedan received a three-spoke steering wheel and a multimedia system with a “soaring” touch screen, and the seats of the novelty are upholstered in leather with a stitching and red inserts.
