Hyundai is preparing two hybrid versions of the updated Santa FeJuly 9, 2018
The new version of Santa Fe was demonstrated back in 2017. Also will be demonstrated and a new version of the crossover Tucson, but now I want to talk about something else – Santa Fe for the first time in 18 years will receive electrified versions.
So far, no details have been reported. Top manager of the company shared some plans in the presentation of the new version of Santa Fe in Barcelona. According to him, it became known that the car will receive a hybrid power unit using the formula of a soft (moderate) hybrid, and a more electrified version with a plug-in hybrid will be available.
Most likely, the system of a moderate hybrid will be borrowed from the current version of Hyundai Tucson. Thus, you can expect the appearance of the same system EcoDynamics +. The structure of this system includes a two-liter turbodiesel engine with a power of up to 184 horsepower, as well as a powerful starter-generator paired with a battery for 0.44 kWh.
Unfortunately about the plug-in hybrid for Santa Fe while to say something difficult. There are no small chances that the system from the Optima PHEV sedan will be used for it. A power reserve of 45 km is expected on the net electric traction. Hyundai and KIA have prepared big plans for the release of green models, including the Nexo hydrogen parking lot.
The production of hybrid models has already begun or will begin soon, however, sales will start only in the autumn of this year, and the date and cost are not yet reported. More detailed information will be announced closer to the beginning of sales.
