Hyundai IONIQ Electric can get “charged” N versionsAugust 23, 2018
The network has the first information on the possible entry into the market of sports versions of the electric car from Hyundai. It is possible that IONIQ Electric N and N-line will appear in the near future
As it became known earlier from the department of testing and development of “charged” N versions of Albert Biermann’s cars – only five cars are planned to be allocated to a separate subbrand “N” for the time being. And whether IONIQ Electric will be one of them is still unknown.
The top manager of Hyundai said that the company had solid plans for three cars in the sub-brand N, but now they add the fourth, which can become an SUV. Also, Biermann said that soon the fifth model will be chosen. Moreover, this fifth representative of the N-line can be completely electric hatchback, which will receive both stylistic and technical changes.
In the event that Hyundai IONIQ Electric will still receive N modification, the electric car will receive a modernized engine and a more capacious battery. Most likely, the software that regulates the operation of the steering, braking system, power unit and transmission as a whole will be reset. The goal of the change will be to improve the manageability, stability and dynamics of overclocking.
Of course, the suspension will be technically revised, and the brakes will become more efficient, including through the energy recovery system.
Bierman said: “When we think about the “charged” model line of the N division, it is clear that the company will not be able to avoid electrification. Earlier or later we will have an electric car N – it’s a matter of time.”
As an example, we have Ioniq EV. If we found a good battery and a more powerful engine, we could make the Ioniq EV N with a good chassis and more power. Something more powerful, but not completely insane.
To date, IONIQ Electric can accelerate to 100 km/h in ten seconds. As a power source is used a battery for 28 kW * hours, and in motion the electric car is driven by an electric motor with a power of 118 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque.
It also became known that the company Hyundai is thinking about the release of its own competitor for the off-road car Toyota Land Cruiser 200. This can happen, also not earlier than 2021.
