Hyundai introduced the Sonata sedan in the Turbo versionMarch 29, 2019
The presentation of the South Korean news was held at the Seoul Motor Show. The car received a 1.6-liter turbocharged 180 hp gasoline engine.
Under the hood of a “charged” sedan is a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol unit with four cylinders and a peak power of 180 horsepower. The basic version will be connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and for an additional fee will offer an 8-speed “automatic”, which optimizes the “smooth and effective response of the throttle valve” Sonata. About the dynamic characteristics of new items not reported.
The Sonata Turbo will have several new design elements that will distinguish it from the regular version of the eighth-generation sedan.
This is a new mesh grille, which Hyundai calls the “parametric pearl”, as well as air ducts under the headlights that direct the air to reduce resistance, a dual exhaust system, a unique bumper and a small fixed spoiler.
Photos from the Seoul Motor Show also show a hybrid version of the new Sonata. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no technical details of this novelty, and we do not have information about what drives the car. The only thing Hyundai explains is that the “Sonata Hybrid, equipped with a solar roof, produces energy for traveling 1,300 kilometers a year.”
The Sonata Hybrid also has a different design than the regular model – the grille is much smaller and has horizontal chrome grilles, and in the bumper there are fewer vents and less air intake under the grille.
