Hyundai has published plans for the Sonata NNovember 6, 2019
The Korean automaker promises to release a “charged” version of the midsize sedan Sonata N in the third quarter of next year.
According to representatives of Hyundai Motor, Sonata N is a high-performance model Sonata, ready for release in the third quarter. In addition to the Sonata N, the “charged” Sonata N-Line will be presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which starts in 2 weeks.
Note that the Sonata N is the first high-performance mid-range model based on a Hyundai sedan with a 2.5T-GDi engine and an 8-speed dual-clutch DCT gearbox. Since the third-generation platform Sonata involves the installation of all-wheel drive, you can expect not only front-wheel, but also all-wheel drive models.
The Sonata N 2.5 T-GDi engine specification will be similar to the SmartStream G2.5 FR T-GDi engine, which was recently presented at the 2019 Hyundai Kia Motors motor conference. It has a maximum power of 304 hp. and uses double injection.
In particular, the company focused on temperature control compared to existing turbo engines, using the CVVT electric system, an infinitely variable oil pump and a water-cooled intercooler.
The maximum permissible torque of the wet eight-speed DCT SmartStream gearbox is 48.0 kgm, which is an improvement over the existing dry seven-speed DCT that the 2.5 T-GDi engine is equipped with.
