Hyundai has officially unveiled the new i20 N hot hatchOctober 21, 2020
The i30 N’s little brother, the Hyundai i20 N, looks pretty aggressive and has everything in its arsenal to meet the high expectations. The fastest i20 will be on sale no earlier than spring 2021, closer to that time the prices will be known.
The N version of the all new Hyundai i20 has a 1.6 T-GDI engine, which, like the larger Kia Pro Ceed GT, delivers 204 horsepower. This means that the little “Korean” got 4 hp. more than the Ford Fiesta ST and Volkswagen Polo GTI. The torque is 275 Nm. The engine is exclusively linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. With Launch Control, the hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km / h.
Of course, it’s not just straight line performance: cornering behavior is much more important. Here, the Hyundai i20 N is compared to the i20 WRC rally car, which weighs 1190 kg similar to the i20. Compared to the “regular” i20, the chassis, suspension, brakes and steering of the i20 have been improved. A mechanical limited slip differential is available as an option. To tailor the i20 to your driving style and / or circumstances, the hatchback has five modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, N and N Custom.
The Hyundai i20 N has an appearance that is very similar to the i30 N, including red accents and a Performance Blue body color. Of course, other shades are also available, as are the matte gray 18-inch wheels, spoiler, grille and dark LED taillights. Performance Blue is also reflected in the interior: among other things, it can be found on the large buttons responsible for the sport mode in one operation. Completing the sporty interior is a set of additional sport seats.
