Hyundai has confirmed plans to release a competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300November 4, 2020
The South Korean automaker plans to launch a large frame SUV that will be able to compete with the future Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
According to the brand’s press service, Hyundai engineers have similar experience – the production of the i30 N hatchback, which is trying to compete with the legendary Volkswagen Golf GTI, as well as the H-1 minivan, which is fighting for leadership in the segment with Toyota HiAce.
Speaking to CarsGuide, the head of Hyundai’s Australian division, Andrew Tuitahi, said that the company is studying all sorts of promising projects that could become global. In Australia, for example, there are a number of problems with the launch of a large frame SUV, but if management wants, they can be solved.
Information about the plans to release a new flagship SUV Hyundai last month was confirmed by Lorenz Glaab – head of global product management of the Korean brand. According to him, the company regularly monitors the market and consumer demand and is always ready to occupy a new and promising segment.
It is possible that the Korean Land Cruiser will be presented in the fall of 2021. Moreover, some experts believe that under the new flagship SUV Hyundai will develop its own frame platform, and as a power plant will offer a turbodiesel V6 with a return of 278 hp, which is used in the luxury SUV Genesis GV80.
