Hyundai electric cars will appear on the market under a new brand
August 9, 2020It became known that the electric cars of the Hyundai Motor concern will appear on the market under the new Ioniq brand.
So, over the next four years, the Korean automaker is going to introduce three new “battery” cars, which will be called Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7. Crossovers will be presented under odd indices, and models with a passenger form factor under even ones. It is known that the Ioniq brand will appear according to the same scenario as Genesis: a well-known name will be allocated into a separate brand, which turned out to be synonymous with the success of Hyundai Motor in the new segment. In the event that Hyundai Genesis became Genesis G80 after the rebranding, then none of the Hyundai Ioniq versions will be sold under the “own” brand.
Note that under the Ioniq brand with serial numbers “5”, “6” and “7” the series will include Hyundai concepts: the “five” will be the 45 EV crossover, the “six” will be an electric coupe-like Propechy sedan, and the “seven” will be an unknown full-size electric off-road vehicle. As for more detailed information about the technical equipment, there is not much of it. So, the entire Ioniq line will be based on the modular electric platform E-GMP, and the main indicators of electric vehicles will be a fairly large range, fast charging, as well as a large interior and an ergonomic interface.
