Hyundai Appoints New Genesis Subbrand HeadOctober 29, 2019
William Lee took over as head of the luxury brand.
Hyundai Motor has appointed William Lee as the new global leader for its premium Genesis brand. Lee is Hyundai’s Executive Vice President and Advisor for the Americas, replacing Manfred Fitzgerald, who will leave Genesis after nearly four years in office.
William Lee is 60 years old and a Hyundai veteran with extensive experience in the USA and Brazil. Mr. Lee takes office at a critical juncture for Genesis as the brand builds its US sales network and is due to launch its first crossovers.
“William Lee’s experience in the US market will be especially rewarding and will make him an ideal candidate for the position. North America is a must-have for the Genesis brand, ”a Hyundai Motor press release said.
According to representatives of Hyundai, Fitzgerald, who will resign his powers on October 31, sets off in search of new opportunities. Lee will begin work in a new position on November 1. Hyundai says who will succeed its current post as a regional executive adviser for the Americas.
Prior to that, Lee was the first CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor Brazil, and senior vice president of Seoul’s overseas sales division. Lee also led the creation of the Innocean USA advertising agency in 2009, and overseas sales for Hyundai Mobis Parts, an auto parts supplier based in San Francisco.
It is reported that Lee will work closely with the newly appointed Genesis North America CEO Mark Del Rosso. Outside the US and the South Korean domestic market, Genesis plans to expand into new regions, including Canada, Russia, the Middle East and Australia.
