Hypercar SCG 007 will repeat the achievement of the Ford GT40September 19, 2019
The coupe should become the fastest American car “Le Mans”
Niche car maker Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus unveiled the exterior of the prototype SCG 007 LMP1 for the Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The car was built with the aim of repeating the achievement of the Ford GT40 50 years ago, when the American sports car became the absolute winner of the “24 hours of Le Mans.”
The detailed specifications of the SCG 007 LMP1 are kept secret, although the design of the supercar is much more interesting. He turns to history, or rather to the 50-60th years of the last century. The rounded rear wing struts evoke associations with experimental Alfa Romeo B.A.T. sports cars built in collaboration with Bertone, and the front end recalls Ferrari sport prototypes.
Aston Martin, Toyota and Rebellion Racing have already announced their participation in the new Le Mans class. Some interest was shown by Koenigsegg and Lamborghini.
According to SCG head James Glickenhaus, the SCG 007 will drive a three-liter V6 with two turbochargers. Nothing is known of its origin. It was previously said that the engine will give out more than 650 horsepower, and electric motors mounted on the front axle will help it. The total return, according to the rules of the new class, cannot exceed 761 horsepower.
In August, SCG published photos of the first production instance of the Boot SUV, which is a modern version of the 60s Hurst Baja Boot. Buggy in stock form can drive along the Baja 1000 off-road race route, and with a special package of improvements – take part in competitions.
