Hypercar Mercedes-AMG Project One faster than Porsche 919?September 25, 2018
For starters, it should be noted that the hypercar Mercedes-AMG Project One will be the first fully independent creation of the company Mercedes-AMG. The latter is the sports division of the German automobile brand Mercedes-Benz. It is noteworthy that all 275 copies of the hypercar have already been sold, and the first deliveries will begin next year.
The fastest car, which was able to establish the record of the Nürburgring race track (Germany), at the moment is a hybrid Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo – its result is 5 minutes and 19 55 seconds. In second place, with a result of 6 minutes and 44,97 seconds is the Italian “furious bull” Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
As part of his recent interview with foreign profile media, the CEO of Mercedes-AMG Tobias Moers expressed confidence that their Project One may well be faster than the above-mentioned cars. That’s what he said: “Yes, it will be difficult, but still I’m sure that the hypercar Mercedes-AMG Project One will still be able to set a new record for the Nürburgring route.”
According to Mr. Moers, the main difference between Project One and Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo is the fact that the Porsche car is meant for use on a racing track, while the new Mercedes-AMG is positioned as an auto that can drive on public roads . The latter fact will certainly affect its technical characteristics. Mr. Moers also noted that although Mercedes-AMG engineers can adjust the car’s aerodynamics, completely remove all unnecessary details (chairs, etc.) from it to reduce the final weight of the car, but they still will not do it.
Let’s remind our reader that the presentation of the conceptual version of the hypercar Mercedes-AMG Project One was held last year – the show was held at the motor show in Frankfurt (Germany). Recently, a German novelty can often be seen at a training ground in the UK. It is noteworthy that all 275 copies of the hypercar have already been sold, and the first deliveries will begin next year.
