Hybrid version of the crossover Kia XCeed seen on testsAugust 28, 2019
The prototype of the South Korean news, which will receive the designation PHEV, was first seen in trials. According to rumors, the Kia XCeed PHEV will receive the same hybrid setup used in the Kia Niro PHEV. The presentation is expected next year.
In June of this year, Kia introduced the XCeed crossover designed for Europe. In the current lineup of the brand, it is between the Stonic entry-level crossover and the compact Sportage. Novika will appear at Kia’s European dealerships this September. In addition to standard gasoline and diesel engines, the model can also be ordered with a hybrid power unit.
This version of the Kia XCeed will receive the prefix PHEV, and its presentation will take place next year.
Well, now, for the first time, we can see the prototype of a more environmentally friendly version of the crossover. The plug-in hybrid version of the model gives the hatch of the charging port on the front left wing. The only expected changes in the exterior are likely to be located in the front, where we will see a modified radiator grille. Several icons showing that this is the PHEV-modification of the crossover will be located in different parts of the body.
As for the motor, most likely, the company’s engineers will install in the Kia XCeed PHEV the same engine that is used in another hybrid crossover – Niro PHEV. In this case, we are talking about a 1.6-liter gasoline engine connected to an electric motor, a 6-speed automatic transmission with double clutch is installed as a transmission. The total power is 139 horsepower, and the electric range is 48 km.
We expect to see a hybrid version of the crossover next year, most likely at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Production of an electrified crossover will be launched at the Kia plant in Slovakia.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that KIA Seltos: disclosed the cost and configuration. In total, the company is preparing 16 different trim levels for its new crossover, including six transmission options.
