Hummer H1 and Mercedes-AMG G63 fight in tug of warMay 17, 2020
YouTube channel carwow staged an unusual duel of the new Mercedes-AMG G63 with a twenty-year Hummer H1 pickup truck. Off-road vehicles fought in a tug of war on the grass. To counterbalance the heavy American all-terrain vehicle, the Gelandewagen was first helped by a gasoline Suzuki Jimny, and then – a diesel truck Mitsubishi L200.
In terms of power and peak torque, the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 has no equal: under the hood, a 585-horsepower (850 Nm) 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo petrol, the “honest” all-wheel drive with three interlocks and a reduction gear is preserved. The German SUV is quite heavy by modern standards and weighs 2.5 tons.
However, compared to the Hummer H1, the Helik looks like a crossover: an American pickup truck is 1.1 tons heavier, under the hood a 6.5-liter 197-horsepower (583 Nm) turbodiesel V8. In addition, the Hummer full-time “toothy” tires against road tires in the Mercedes-AMG G 63.
To counterbalance the Hummer H1, bloggers equipped another Mercedes-Benz SUV, the 1.1-ton 150-horsepower (130 Nm) Suzuki Jimny, to help Mercedes. And when that didn’t help, the 1.9-ton Mitsubishi L200 with a 150-horsepower (400 Nm) turbodiesel was harnessed against the Hammer.
